Our Farm

Grown in Nanaimo. Harvested at its best.

We grow mushrooms in small batches and harvest close to the selected fulfillment window so they arrive fresh to island kitchens.

Our story

Island Mushroom is a Nanaimo mushroom grower. We focus on a small set of varieties grown carefully, harvested close to pickup or delivery, and routed to home cooks, chefs, and local shops.

From spore to harvest

  1. Spore. Each variety starts from clean culture or verified starting material. We keep this stage careful and controlled before a crop enters production.
  2. Mycelium. The culture colonizes a prepared growing medium. Specific substrate sources and practice claims are published only after they are documented.
  3. Pinning. Temperature, humidity, and airflow shift to encourage mushrooms to form. This is the point where timing starts to matter for the harvest window.
  4. Harvest. We pick close to the selected pickup or delivery window, then handle the mushrooms gently so texture and freshness stay intact.

How we grow

We grow with care and patience, protecting the flavour and freshness of every harvest. We will share specific certification or practice details here once they are documented.

We do not make organic, regenerative, or low-impact claims without supporting evidence.

Launch claims policy

Substrate sourcing, packaging impact, certification status, low-waste practices, and partner endorsements are not shown as marketing claims until Island Mushroom has documented evidence and approval to publish them.

This keeps the launch site credible while leaving room to add stronger proof as operations are confirmed.

Freshness and handling

Fresh mushrooms are perishable. See Fresh Product Care for storage and use guidance, and Delivery / Pickup for cutoffs and windows.
